A slightly distant port quarter view of the Thames spritsail staysail barge Champion (1861) moored offshore at Herne Bay, Kent. She is fully laden. A number of people are on the beach in the foreground. Herne Bay pier is in the background. It was one of the longest in the country but was destroyed in a storm in 1978 and dismantled in 1980. A note on the negative says the photographer was using Camera B.
