A distant starboard broadside view of the steam tug Gnat (1888) towing a spritsail barge south through The Downs. The tug has a single mast forward of an open wheelhouse and a full height steampipe forward of the black funnel which has a white band near the top. The spritsail barge is a ketch-rigged boomie barge and she has her bowsprit topped, her mainsail set and a topsail also set. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera B.
