A starboard bow view of the spritsail barges Thames (1881) and Arthur moored in the entrance to a dock, presumably in London. The Thames has her bowsprit topped and is fully laden. The top of her bowsprit and mainmast are out of the picture. The Arthur, astern of the Thames (1881), has a full deck cargo of sawn timber and her name is on the white-painted rail. There were nine spritsail barges named Arthur in service at the time of this photograph.
