A close view of the spuds on board the suction dredger Marco Polo (1979) while she is under way approaching a gap in the Musandam Peninsula. The photographer is standing on the port side of the dredger looking forward and to starboard showing two spuds, a pile of wood planks and canvas covered piles. Ahead of the ship is the rocky coastline of the Musandam Peninsula and a gap, referred to in the photographer's notes as Fakk Al Asad, or the Gut, is in the background. This is Slide 19 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Navigator on board the suction dredger Marco Polo (1979) owned by Jan De Nul from 11 February 1981 to 3 March 1981. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
