A starboard quarter view of the suction dredger Marco Polo (1979) berthed alongside a wharf at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

A starboard quarter view of the suction dredger Marco Polo (1979) berthed alongside a wharf at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The photographer is standing on the quayside looking towards the dredger and everything forward of her bridge is out of the picture. A split hopper barge, either the Verrazzano 1800 (1979) or the Magellano 1800 (1979), is berthed outboard of Marco Polo and only the stern and mast are visible. A United Arab Emirates courtesy flag is flying from the starboard yard arm of Marco Polo. A dock with container cranes is in the background on the left hand side of the image. This is Slide 23 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Navigator on board the suction dredger Marco Polo (1979) owned by Jan De Nul from 11 February 1981 to 3 March 1981. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
