Steerage passengers on the forward well deck of the German passenger liner Deutschland (1900) alongside the Prince of Wales Pier in Dover Harbour, awaiting disembarkation.
Steerage passengers on the forward well deck of the German passenger liner Deutschland (1900) alongside the Prince of Wales Pier in Dover Harbour, awaiting disembarkation. When leaving the Prince of Wales Pier for New York at 11.35 a.m. on 13 July her bow swung and the stem was badly twisted by hitting the pier. She returned to the pier to disembark passengers and mails and was taken to Southampton on 20 July to be repaired by Harland & Wolff. The photographer is on the pier looking across the well deck from port to starboard and slightly forward. A note on the original negative says the photographer is using Camera B. This is a modern film copy of a photographic print from the original glass negative.
