A close starboard bow view, taken from very fine off the bow, of the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) alongside a container berth at Wilmington, Los Angeles. The photographer is standing on the quayside in front of the bow. The name Seatrain Valley Forge is painted on the starboard bow and a large 'J' (the symbol of the shipowner H. Janssen of Bad Zwischenhan, West Germany) is painted on the centre of the bow. Mooring ropes are looped over two yellow bollards in the foreground. A portainer crane for loading containers is positioned over the vessel. This is Slide 3 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Relief Second Officer on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) owned by Marejet Bereiderung GMBH & Co. from 23 November 1979 to 7 February 1980.
