Inside the wheelhouse on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) while under way at sea. The photographer is on the port side of the wheelhouse looking to starboard and slightly forward. The ship's wheel is in the centre and the compass is between the steering console and the wheelhouse window. The Number 2 radar console is on the left and a small navigation console is to port of the wheel. A longer navigation console is to starboard of the wheel. Numerous dials, including a barometer, are set into the bulkhead just above the wheelhouse window. This is Slide 14 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Relief Second Officer on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) owned by Marejet Bereiderung GMBH & Co. from 23 November 1979 to 7 February 1980.
