Looking down on the starboard lifeboat during a drill on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) while at sea. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the superstructure looking down and slightly forward. Two crewmen in orange life jackets are standing on the deck near the port side of the lifeboat. The words "5 x1.055 Persons" is printed on the side of the lifeboat at the stern. The engine casing, oars and collapsible mast, along with white circles to indicate the seating arrangement are in the lifeboat. The lifeboat has been swung out and lowered to deck level. This is Slide 20 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Relief Second Officer on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) owned by Marejet Bereiderung GMBH & Co. from 23 November 1979 to 7 February 1980. The lecture consists of 25 slides.
