Containers being worked on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) which is berthed at Kowloon, Hong Kong

Containers being worked on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) which is berthed at Kowloon, Hong Kong. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and the photographer is on the port side of the bridge looking forward and to starboard. A crane is lifting or lowering a container at a hold amidships on the starboard side. Numbers painted on the front and side of the hold show the container is being worked at number 03 bay in hold 19 and 20. Three crewmen are on the aft end of the open hold and another man is standing on the forward side of the hold. There are five stacks of containers forward of the open hold and two stacks aft of it. Kwung Tong and the Kwung Tong Promenade is in the background. An unidentified tug is on the right hand side of the image. This is Slide 23 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Relief Second Officer on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) owned by Marejet Bereiderung GMBH & Co. from 23 November 1979 to 7 February 1980.
