A three-quarter length portrait of Captain Henry Bird standing on the quayside in front of the motor tugs Halaib (1980) and Trinkitat (1980) berthed at Borkum, Germany

A three-quarter length portrait of Captain Henry Bird standing on the quayside in front of the motor tugs Halaib (1980) and Trinkitat (1980) berthed at Borkum, Germany. The photographer is using Bird's camera and Bird is dressed in navy trousers, a navy blue jacket with gold buttons over a guernsey and wearing a cap with a Merchant Navy badge embroidered on the front. Three workboats are on the left hand side of the image. The Halaib is berthed alongside a quay and the Trinkitat is berthed outboard of her and both tugs are seen from almost dead ahead. The blue and white patterned Henry Abrams & Son Ltd House flag is flying from the port signalling halyard on the Halaib. Fire monitors are fitted to both vessels and some of their windows have been boarded up for the delivery voyage to Sudan. This is Slide 7 of a lecture titled "World Wide Ship Delivery" given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Chief Officer on board the motor tug Halaib (1980) owned by Sea Ports Corporation of Sudan from 26 March 1980 to 18 April 1980. The lecture consists of 23 slides.
