`Passengers disembarking from an unidentified Tilbury - Gravesend ferry onto a pier or landing stage on the Kent side of the River Thames. They are walking up the gangway to the pier from the upper deck abaft the funnel.. People are standing on the pier waiting to board the ferry. The skipper of the ferry is standing on the port side of his bridge looking aft. A spritsail barge and a ketch are sailing downriver and the Essex shore east of Tilbury is in the background.
