The photographer is looking forward from the starboard side of the poop and Francis Norris Adams is standing by the rail at the forward end of the poop. Under canvas covers on the left is the emergency steering wheel and binnacle. Covered on the right is a folding lifeboat with its rudder outside the cover. A vertical format negative.
