The port of Boulogne and the River Liane, France. The photographer is on the railway wharf on the west bank of the Liane looking across the aft deck of a cross-channel steamer to the east bank of the river. The hull of the steamer is well below the level of the wharf. Four lifeboats, four ventilator cowls and the ship's mainmast are in the foreground. Deck chairs are folded and stacked up between a skylight and two of the ventilators. A small number of steam trawlers are alongside the east wall. The top right corner of the negative is broken off and missing.
