A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of a Dover (1896) class cross-channel ferry under way in The Downs.
A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of a Dover (1896) class cross-channel ferry under way in The Downs. She is making smoke and the negative is slightly spotted. The horizon is not quite level. This is one of Calais (1896), Dover (1896) or Lord Warden (1896). They were virtually identical and this vessel is depicted after the bridge has been moved from its original position to forward of the funnel.
