A close view of the port side at the aft end of the superstructure of the passenger/cargo liner Vaderland (1900) alongside the Prince of Wales Pier in Dover harbour. The photographer is on the pier looking aft and to starboard showing third class or steerage passengers leaning over the ship's bulwark and over the rail of the deck above. Some of the people are wrapped in blankets. Canvas dodgers are rigged to protect the deck from the wind.
