On board the Orient Line passenger/cargo liner Orontes (1902) while berthed in Tilbury Docks, Essex. The ship is berthed starboard side to the wharf and the photographer is looking aft from the port side of the forward boat deck extension. Lifeboat number 4 has been swung out and lowered to deck level. The port shrouds of the foremast are in the foreground. The ship has a buff funnel. Two P & O liners are berthed on the opposite side of the Branch Dock. A vertical format negative.
