Inside the north bay extension in No. 1 Smithery in Chatham Dockyard, looking north-west from area A19. A small circular smelter is on the left under a corrugated iron roof. Tool racks and the fixing arm for a hand crane are attached to the north wall. A toilet block is alongside the double door in the west elevation. The ground floor windows have been boarded up internally.
