A selection of tools and stamps near a steam hammer in one of the bays of Number 5 Machine Shop in Chatham Dockyard. The tools include various sizes of steel tongs and a number of the tools are stamps that comprise a metal block at the end of a long shaft that has a circular shaped handle at the top. The shaft lengths and the sizes of the metal lump vary quite considerably and they are used for weighing down or manoeuvering hot plates. Transparencies PCT3152 and PCT3153 show the same group of tools.
