A cluttered corner of the spring making workshop in Number 5 Machine Shop in Chatham Dockyard. On the bending floor are a number of steel vices and anvils. Bending slab pins and bars, a filing cabinet, tin box, broken tea chest and wooden holder of spring steel are on the raised platform. A hook and pulley is suspended in the centre of the picture.
