A smith and two hammermen forging a stanchion in Number 5 Machine Shop in Chatham Dockyard. The smith, wearing green overalls, is taking the red hot billet out of the furnace. One of the hammermen, wearing white overalls, is pulling on the chains that operate the door of the furnace, Transparencies numbers PCT3324 to PCT3330 were taken during the same operation.
