Looking down at the pavement outside the entrance doors of the C223 Chain Cable Test House on the west side Main Gate Road, north of Number 8 Slip, in Chatham Dockyard. The pavement is made up of small iron plates, each of which is stamped with the War Department arrow. Steel bollards are on either side of the wooden sliding doors. A welded steel wedge with a swivelling bollard is in the foreground. Transparency number PCT3405 is also of this entrance, but taken from the front of the building.
