A formal group photograph of the employees of the Painters Department of the C.M.D. in Chatham Dockyard. There are six men and twenty women in the group and they are outside the open doors of a corrugated iron clad building. They are all wearing flowers, mainly a rose buttonhole. A museum copy of a photographic print loaned to the museum by Fred Bennett, a smith from 1940 to the early 1970s. His wife is sitting in the front row, 3rd from the right.
