Impression of a branch from the Priestley Glacier
A rock hammer propped up against one side of a geological specimen found during the expedition undertaken by the Northern Party.
Similar photographs of geological specimens are featured in Dr. Raymond Priestley's book 'Antarctic Adventure: Scott's Northern Party' in which surgeon George Murray Levick is cited as the official photographer of the Northern Party and credited with taking the majority of the photographs. Most of the pieces of fossil wood were found on 31 January and 1 February. Levick returned from a separate campsite on the 1 February to meet Priestley and they continued fossil hunting on 2 February.
A number '106' is in a white dot on the slide with 'NA 106a' on the reverse.
