Motor sledge testing in Norway

At Fridtjof Nansen's suggestion, testing of the Wolseley-Hamilton motor sledges took place in Norway. Pictured is one of the Wolseley-Hamilton motorised sledges towing a laden wooden sledge at Lake Fefor near the small town of Vinstra. The wooden sledge is carrying tins of Shell fuel. Four people, including Kathleen Scott, are beside the two sledges. A dense treeline of pine trees is in the background.

Captain Scott and Kathleen Scott departed for Norway on 26 February 1910. The journey took two days and they finally arrived at Lake Fefor on 1 March after spending 28 February in Oslo [Christiania]. They left on 12 March and returned, on Aaro of the Wilson Line, to Hull on 14 March.

The bottom of the mount states in black ink "Two miles per Hour", and above the image on the mount states "B. A. E. 1910".
