Two unidentified expedition members on the deck of the Discovery (1901) after a blizzard
Two unidentified expedition members on board a snow and ice-covered Discovery (1901) after a blizzard. Both men are facing the camera. One stands while the other is crouching before him and barely visible behind a mound of snow on the deck. View looking aft on the starboard side. Photograph probably taken after the blizzard of early May 1902. It is featured in the Illustrated London News of 27 June 1903 where it is attributed to Sir Ernest Shackleton. Present in the original photograph is a scratch that runs along the man's belt and across the hat of the concealed man.
