Crewmen reeving new wires through a suction head lifting block on board the suction hopper dredger Geopotes X (1969) at sea
Crewmen reeving new wires through a suction head lifting block on board the suction hopper dredger Geopotes X (1969) at sea. The photographer is standing in front of the superstructure, looking forward and to port. One crewman is on the suction head next to the lifting block. A second crewman is standing on the block itself, which is held in the air by the crane, feeding the wires through. A third crewman is standing on top of the starboard arm and leaning over to feed the wires through and the forth crewman is standing on the frame of the arm. A partial view of the goalpost foremast is in the background. This is Slide 24 of a lecture titled "World Wide Ship Delivery" given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Chief Officer for the suction hopper dredger Geopotes X (1969), owned by Volker Dredging Co Ltd, from 24 June 1980 to 14 July 1980.
