A group of six fishing people
This figure study shows a man on the left leaning on a stick, pointing and talking to two women, one of whom has a large flat basket on her head. Close behind them on the right stand a man, a woman and a girl.
The unsigned drawing’s stylistic resemblance to drawings of similar subjects from the Milford Collection, now at the NMM, suggest a tentative attribution to Willem van de Velde, the Elder, and a date of about 1655.
