An ice barrier in the Beaufort Sea, taken on board the suction hopper dredger Geopotes X (1969) at sea. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the bridge looking forward and slightly to port. The words "145247(?)" are painted on the cabin of the small work tug Edwin M, which is being carried as deck cargo on board Geopotes X. Edwin M. is stowed just aft of the fore goalpost mast. The fore navigation light mast is forward of the goalpost mast. The ice barrier encompasses the middle ground and background.
