Figure studies, men and women
This study shows nineteen separate figures on one sheet. Three are of women seated on wheelbarrows. Four other figures are seated and the rest are standing.
The unsigned has been doubtfully attributed to Willem van de Velde due to the similarity in subject matter to the artist’s work for his grisailles during the 1650s. It is inscribed on the back of the mount 'Veldt Brueghell'.
