States yacht under sail and a Dutch flagship at anchor

The drawing shows a weather quarter view of a States yacht close-hauled on the port tack. She has an ensign with the lion of the United Provinces on it, and similar flags at the masthead, at the peak and as a jack. The yacht is sailing towards a ship (seen port bow view) at anchor on the left; a flag at the fore and pendant at the main. The ship is firing a salute. A bezan yacht sails alongside and a galjoot on her quarter. Another ship is at anchor in the background. A rowing boat can be seen in the right foreground.

The drawing is signed 'W.V.V.J'.
