A Dutch flagship with a smalschip and a kaag alongside

A stern view of a ship with sails hanging loose and a flag at the main. Close alongside, to port, is a smalschip and, beside this, a kaag or similar vessel. A smaller rowing boat sits alongside to starboard. A sense of activity is conveyed in this otherwise simple drawing by the number and proximity of the smaller vessels around the ship, and by the inclusion of several figures on both sides.

The drawing is inscribed in the sky: ‘L’ to indicate the direction of light.
