A flute under easy sail
An attractive and fairly minimal depiction of a flute viewed from astern and slightly on the port quarter with fore and main topsails set – the flags and sails suggesting a moderate wind on the port beam. Several small boats appear to be pulling away from the vessel as the crew disembark. Though drawn in the manner of the younger Van de Velde, it is possibly by another, unknown artist.
