Three men in a large boat
A large clench-built boat fitted with leeboards, with two seated figures and one standing. On the port bow, the heraldic lion of the United Provinces is clearly visible, while on the starboard bow, less distinct, is the Orange-Nassau coat-of-arms. The drawing is inscribed on the back in pencil ‘Backhuysen’ in an old hand, recording an earlier attribution to Ludolf Backhuysen, a contemporary of Van de Velde, the Younger.
