A view of one of the Indian quartermasters on board the bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) at sea. The photographer is standing on the port side of the main deck looking aft. The name of the quartermaster (according to the photographer's autobiography) is Pandit and is from Kerala, India. Pandit. Pandit is maintaining a pilot's ladder (also known as a Jacob's Ladder). This is Slide 38 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) owned by Sir William Reardon Smith & Sons Ltd of Cardiff, from 17 May 1970 to 26 November 1970. This series consists of 83 slides.
