A view of two apprentices painting on board the bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) at sea. The photographer is standing on the port side of the forecastle looking forward. The names of the apprentices (according to the photographer's autobiography) are Llewelyn and Jerrun. The two apprentices are painting the underside of the davit in the eyes of the ship. This is Slide 41 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) owned by Sir William Reardon Smith & Sons Ltd of Cardiff, from 17 May 1970 to 26 November 1970. This series consists of 83 slides.
