A view of the interior of the photographer's cabin and his Indian steward on board the bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964). According to the photographer's autobiography, the steward is named Roddy. Roddy is standing in the foreground next to a bed and is looking at the photographer. There is a pile of white blankets and a partial view of a Second Officer's jacket on the chair to the right of the bed. Two topographical photographs are stuck to the wall. A small wooden book case, with a picture of the photographer's wife Joan Bird is also fasted to the wall. This is Slide 77 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) owned by Sir William Reardon Smith & Sons Ltd of Cardiff, from 17 May 1970 to 26 November 1970. This series consists of 83 slides.
