A view of the timber wharf, taken from on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959) berthed at Sembawang, Singapore. The photographer is standing on the port side of the ship, looking forward and to port. 4 dock workers are standing and sitting next to piles of timber on the quayside in the foreground. Two more dockworkers are standing to the right of an orange fork lift truck which is underway and carrying timber, in the foreground. There is a yellow forklift truck just in front of the orange fork lift truck in the foreground. A corrugated roof building with piles of timber and a parked car are in the foreground in the middle of the image. there are two rollers on the left hand side in the middle ground working on a part of the wharf under construction.

Piles of timber, forklifts and lorries loaded with timber are in the fore and middle ground. Parked lorry trailers and a large grey building are in the near background. Houses and trees are on a hill in the background. Timber piles are being loaded onto the ship with the derricks in the foreground on the right hand side of the image. This is Slide 13 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
