Timber being lowered into the hold of board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959) berthed at Sembawang, Singapore. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the hold looking up and to port. Piles of timber are being lowered into the hold. Two dockers are directing the pile being lowered whilst three other dock workers look on from behind the already laid pile of timber. A green canvas covered ventilator is up in the main in the top of the image. A bell is in the top right corner of the image. This is Slide 17 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
