Five dock workers stowing piles of timber in the hold of the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959) berthed at Sembawang, Singapore. The photographer is standing on the upper deck, looking down into the hold. The five workers are standing on top of piles of timber already stowed in the hold. The rope from the derrick on the upper deck, used to lower the timber piles hangs empty nearby. This is Slide 20 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
