Part of the Citadel. Ancona
Mounted with PAE5645. A view from the south side of the harbour, which lies beyond the fortifications with the high part of the old town beyond to the north. The tower at far left is a side view of the Arch of Trajan on the landward end of the historic outer mole of the harbour. Land reclamation has now brought both the Arch and citadel within the the outer parts of the modern port, the former surrounded by land on all sides, the citadel still by water within the new outer quays of the port.
