The two crewmen, one sitting on the left and the second is standing on the right on a suspended plank of wood which is fastened to the top of the funnel. The crewman on the right is standing next to the two siren on the funnel. The funnel is being painted beige with a white and blue stripe and the 5 pointed red star emblem of the London & Overseas Freighters PLC. A third crewmen is standing next to the air intake for the twin heating unit on the casing top in the foreground. This is Slide 36 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
