A partially clear deck on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959) at sea. The photographer is standing on the port side of the main deck on the port side looking forward and to starboard. Individual planks of sawn timber litter the main deck on the port side. A crewman is standing next to a ladder on the main deck whilst two more crewmen are standing on a platform above next to the aft derrick. The centre line of the ship is packed with lashed parcels of sawn timber. The bridge superstructure is in the background. This is Slide 38 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the bulk carrier London Explorer [ex Overseas Explorer] (1959), owned by London & Overseas Freighters Ltd. from 11 July 1972 to 16 October 1972. The series consists of 39 slides.
