A view of two crewman handling a repeater at the stern of the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) at sea. The photographer is standing on a raised platform on the starboard side of the main deck looking aft and down towards the stern. A third crewman is in the middle ground on the right hand side of the conveyor watching the repeater move closer to the stern. According to the photographer, the third crewman in the middle ground is the Assistant Master Captain Reynolds. This is Slide 19 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer for the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by Commercial Cable Company of London from 16 December 1974 to 21 March 1975. This series consists of 45 slides.
