In the background is a tree in full bloom with purple blossoms. The photographer refers to this tree as a 'blue tree' on the card mount of the photograph. There are hedegs and other foliage either side of the pathway which turns to the left in the middle of the image. This is Slide 10 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer for the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by Commercial Cable Company of London from 1 June 1975 to 6 July 1975. This series consists of 25 slides.
