The Alfred frigate
This is most likely a page from the artist’s sketchbook, combining a central more finished sketch with several small sketches of smaller vessels above. The Alfred is shown from the starboard side. It is anchored at the front, moored at a quayside, with a line of buildings behind, drawn very lightly. The ship has been hulked and fitted with a permanent roof, for accommodation or perhaps quarantine. There is a union jack near the centre mast.
