Collier Brigs in Long Reach, River Thames
Mounted with PAE6402.
One of Edward William Cooke’s many sketches of shipping on the Thames, this shows collier brigs in Long Reach, nearly 30 km downriver from central London. London’s houses and industries required huge amounts of coal, delivered by a constant stream of small vessels plying between the coal ports of north east England and the Thames.
