A close view of the port side of the bow, seen from off the beam, of the spritsail barge Plover (1898) berthed at the Point Barge Yard, Rochester, Kent, during a refit. Her bowsprit, mast and rigging have been unshipped. Shipwrights are fixing a new upper strake oak plank and the foreman shipwright, Mr. H Brown, is on the left taking the plank to fit against the rabbet at the stem. The plank has been kiln steamed and is flexible. A Short Sunderland flying boat is on the water in the right background.
