On board the spritsail rigged coasting barge Her Majesty (1897) bound down in the Thames estuary. She has a substantial cargo of wooden cases and barrels stacked on her hatch covers and decks. The photographer is looking forward from the port side abaft the main hatch. The bowsprit is topped and the barge is sailing under a foresail and the mainsail. The cook is heading aft with a meal.
