On board the coasting barge John Bayly (1895) while under tow in the River Thames estuary. The photographer is looking forward and to port from abaft the main hatch. She has a mixed deck cargo. The upper part of her mast is out of the picture and her mainsail is brailed up against the mast. There is no sign of her sprit. The steam coaster Mary (fl.1912) is carrying out an alongside tow and her forepart is in the picture. The bridge of the Mary (fl. 1912) is shown in negative number P75149.
